Operation Sentinel Sky

Operation Sentinel Sky connects veterans with raptors in rehabilitation, providing an opportunity to learn about raptor care while supporting their own recovery journey. Each week, participants work alongside our rehabilitation team, learning about different raptor species, their injuries, and the rehabilitation process. Through hands-on experience caring for these birds of prey, veterans gain purpose, build connections, and witness resilience in action—both in the raptors and in themselves. The program offers a unique path toward healing through meaningful contribution to wildlife conservation.

Veterans in Operation Sentinel Sky participate in hands-on raptor care, learning about each bird's unique recovery journey. From feeding and cleaning enclosures to monitoring rehabilitation progress, participants gain valuable skills while contributing to the vital work of wildlife conservation. The program creates meaningful connections between veterans and the raptors they help heal.

Through weekly sessions, participants discover how raptors overcome injury and adapt to challenges—lessons that resonate deeply with their own experiences. Studies show that programs like this significantly improve veterans' motivation, sense of peace, and ability to connect with others. Many veterans rate their time working with raptors as one of the most valuable aspects of their recovery.
